Education in Chemical Engineering
Manufacturing are not conducted just by empirical method, but are developed on the basis of “Chemical Engineering”. In order to efficiently produce high-quality products, it is important to understand the properties of materials, the mixing and separation of materials reactions, and transportationa, the properties of powders and process systems. Chemical engineering is a discipline for the technological innovation in actual industrial processes. Graduates of the chemical engineering are capable of overseeing the entire process as engineers and are working to meet the needs of companies.
Based on this academic system, the Department of Chemical Engineering offers courses such as ” Materials Science,” “Chemical Engineering,” “Bioengineering,” and “Data Science Process”. With subjects of materials science, students learn about the properties of materials through physical chemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry, and quantum science. With subjects of chemical engineering, students learn the academic fundamentals for manufacturing, such as reaction engineering, mass transfer engineering, separation, and transfer phenomena, thermal engineering, fluid engineering and powder engineering. Students also study subjects related to data science and processes, such as “process systems engineering”, as subjects for engineers. In recent years, the importance of bioengineering in industry has been increasing, and students learn about this through courses such as “biochemical engineering”. In general, our educational system is designed to enable students to play an active role as engineers in a variety of industrial fields.
