Welcome Reception
All participants and their accompanying persons are invited to attend the ISPC25 welcome reception, which will be held in the front yard of the Karamon gate of Nijo-jo Castle at 19:00 on 22 May (Monday). Drinks and light meals will be served in the historic atmosphere.
<Highlights of Nijo-jo Castle>
Motorikyu Nijo-jo Castle has watched over the changes in Japanese history, including the rise and fall of the Tokugawa family.
In 1867, the 15th shogun(General) Yoshinobu expressed his intention to “Restoration of Imperial rule'' at the Ninomaru-goten Palace, which is very famous in Japanese history.
You can see the relics of the Momoyama culture that are still gorgeous after about 400 years, such as the Ninomaru-goten palace, the Ninomaru Garden, and the Karamon gate. Nijo-jo Castle, which was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994,
can be said to be a valuable historical heritage that has witnessed the transition of the Tokugawa family and the long history of Japan.
<Precautions for visitors>
- Please use public transportation. No parking lot and waiting area for vehicles.
- Please get on and off in front of the Higashi Ote-mon Gate (East Gate) when using a taxi, etc. No get on and off outside of designated areas.
(Depending on the surrounding road traffic conditions, the use of designated areas may be restricted.)
- No parking lot for bicycles.
<Notes inside the castle>
- Smoking is prohibited throughout Nijo-jo Castle.
- No baggage storage.
- Only the venue and restrooms can be used for night-time after the castle is closed.
